My Story

I love food! Imagine the bleak reality of being unable to eat and enjoy cheese in all its varied and stinky forms. Not to mention the joy of unctuous treats such as sticky toffee pudding, honey flavoured Greek yogurt and gloopy hot chocolate………I can’t even bare to mention my favourite crisps! This was what I was facing when it was identified that eating dairy had been making ill.
I suffered stomach cramps, bloating, diarrhea, eczema and a constant feeling of foggy tiredness. The doctors repeatedly told me it was a gluten problem but despite eliminating it from my diet I still suffered. Eventually I was referred to a dietitian who assessed and modified my diet which identified diary as the problem. Once I stopped eating it I was so much better, to the point that I was so used to being ill I’d forgotten what it was like to feel normal.
So the last year has been learning how to live dairy free at home, work, visiting friends and eating out.
